Community participation

I'm a proud supporter of the Brett Weiss Scholarship Foundation, which raises money to send local children from Dago, Kenya to high school. I have been fortunate to travel to the area and meet some of the current and past recipients of these scholarships.

As a past President of Rotary, I enjoy helping people and making likeminded friends. My charitable support efforts and community outreach also extends with my membership with the Barrington Masonic Lodge 522, The Scottish Rite Masonry and the Shriners.

Interests

  • My wife and I have travelled to over 45 countries and have backpacked all over the world - traveling has been my most favorite hobby since I "caught the bug" at age 12 (my first trip was to London)
  • Poodles are my favorite dog - Mister Baby Al would love to meet you and say hi one of these days
  • I'm an avid reader of all things non-fiction
  • And I've just begun getting into "classic cars" and am starting a restoration on a 1976 Mercedes 300 diesel... it goes about 9 miles per hour and I'll take any tips you have!
