Financial Security – What Does It Mean To You?

Financial planning – what does it mean to you? Do you feel like there are so many things you excel at in your life but thinking about your money makes you a little uneasy? Do you have questions such as: Do I have enough? Am I saving enough? How do I handle my debt? What’s my next move? If you feel this way, you are not alone. “Some 70% of Americans admit to being stressed about their personal finances these days and a majority - 52% - of U.S. adults said their financial stress has increased since before the Covid-19 pandemic began in March 2020” according to a new CNBC Your Money Financial Confidence Survey conducted in partnership with Momentive. 1*

So, what do you do? If you are like most people, you can take one of two routes: you either keep doing what you are doing, a little unsure if you are doing the right thing, or you try to research and better understand the problem. The challenge is that there is so much information out there, from so many sources, and you don’t know what or who to believe.

My goal instead is to try to give you some ideas, maybe just a starting point to help untangle the knot that money can make in our brains.

Think of it this way, you are great at what you are great at, and time is precious. Just like going to a mechanic, using a professional to build a financial plan to help provide clarity and put steps in place to build the financial plan you are looking for can be helpful. Could you change your own oil or fix your brakes? It’s possible, but do you have the time and energy to learn how to do it well? A financial advisor can help with these concerns by first helping you build a set of goals using your answers to key questions. A financial advisor can also provide strategies for questions like: Am I saving enough? Can I take a year off? When can I retire? A financial plan can help give you the information needed to determine how much you can spend, how much you need to save, and the steps you need to take to help reach your desired life. If your current financial life overwhelms you, consider finding a financial advisor who can help.
